FALL ORGANIZING TIPS @INPLACEJACKSONHOLE

We asked Samantha Danahy, Owner of “In Place” in Jackson, WY for some fall organizational tips for the closet so she shared her top 3 Pro-Tips…….

Whether you have a giant walk-in that houses more than you could ever own or a tiny reach-in, it’s important to switch out your closet seasonally. Jackson Hole’s weather is such that you wouldn’t wear sandals in February, so having them in your visual space is mentally and physically cluttering. Moving your clothes, either to storage or designating an out-of-season side of your closet, is an excellent opportunity to edit worn out and unloved pieces. The act of moving everything gives you a chance to shake off dust and wrinkles, adjust shoulders on hangers so they aren’t being pulled and stretching fabric, while creating a little space in your clothes. Seasonal switch days are the best time to shop your closet, especially now that we are wearing pants with buttons again!

PRO TIP # 1 – Huggable Felt Hangers

I love huggable felt hangers. They make a big difference in how your clothes hang and how much you can fit in a hanging space. However, I prefer satin padded hangers for any sweaters or knits to keep their shape as the sleek edges in the felt hangers can pull the shoulders.

PRO TIP #2 – Don’t color coordinate

Think about how you get dressed. Are you going to look for a warm sweater to wear with jeans or a black one? Color coordinating looks great but can visually hide pieces you love.

PRO TIP # 3 No More Dry Cleaner Bags

Stop storing clothing in plastic dry-cleaner bags. The plastic keeps fabrics from breathing and traps the cleaning chemicals in, which can eat away at fibers.
